Support Naturopathic Medicine in Maine

Expanding Naturopathic Medicine in Maine

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful summer, staying cool and making sure to spend time with friends and family! I have a special request for those of you who have enjoyed the benefits of naturopathic medical care, and for those of you yet to do so.  Please take a minute to read below, and feel free to contact me with any questions.

Naturopathic Doctors codified their licensing law in Maine almost 30 years ago. That is a long time and many changes have happened in medicine since then. It is common for professions to continue to update their scope of practice and adopt changes to their license to adapt to new information. It’s time for the ND profession in Maine to do that as well.

The Maine Association of Naturopathic Doctors (MAND), the professional organization of NDs in Maine, would like to introduce legislation in the 2023 session to “Modernize our Scope of Practice”. This will allow our profession to be more adaptable to medications and procedural prescribing within our training while still adhering to Naturopathic principals. In order to do this, we must raise funds to hire a lobbying firm to help us navigate the legislative process. All MAND members, including me, are asking our patients, friends and supporters to aid us with any dollar contribution to help reach our goal so we can move forward this next legislative session.

You can make a difference for Mainers by becoming a MAND Supporter. Your contribution of $10, $25, $50 or more will help ensure NDs can provide much needed primary and specialty care services.

Naturopathic medicine in the state of Maine is and always has been a grassroots movement. Your support is key to us raising the funds necessary for NDs to secure the right to practice effectively and to provide much-needed care to their patients.

Thank you in advance for your support and here’s to a thriving future for naturopathic doctors and patients in the State of Maine.
